Virginie MARTINS de NOBREGA is a seasoned professional in international development and passionate about tackling global challenges from a social, economic, legal and political character to achieve progress for all. She has a broad and varied experience from international public law to conflict resolution through business management in France, Brazil, Belgium, Cambodia and the USA.
Back in 2008, she conducted research during her Executive MBA on the AI and innovation ecosystem within the United Nations to see how technologies could improve the speed, efficiency and impact of the actions of the public sector in the nexus of international development from a programme management perspective, as well as from a public policy perspective. Since then she has been advocated for a responsible and ethical AI with a strong human-rights benchmarks to increase the social impact on the beneficiaries. She is convinced that building bridges of understanding, breaking the silos mindset, creating smart partnerships while delivering sharp multidisciplinary analyses is key to leverage our common actions towards the SDGs, thus supporting the on-going transformation of the public sector. In 2020, she launched with her partner LEEG-net a call for action to the United Nations High Level Political Forum around seven rights-based Imperatives to accelerate the SDGs for COVID-19 recovery and resilience.
Virginie MARTINS de NOBREGA is focusing more and more on international consultancy for international organizations, governments and their partners. Over the last 7 years, she has been practicing as a lawyer at the Paris Bar and a mediator/conflict specialist. Since 2019, she is also a Board member in charge of the global strategy of a volunteer-based network of women established in 28 City Networks and representing 3,200 members.
